Installation Day Three and Day Four

Here are the photos I promised yesterday!

We are re-routing visitors through Discover World and up the back staircase -- this is the sign I made that I placed going up the main stairs to the second floor

This is a map of Ohio railroads -- it was mounted on the "skateboard ramp" I posted earlier with no graphics on it

This is what went up on the curved wall in the corner

When you push this button you will hear a recording of the St. Thomas Aquinas choir singing "The Largest Flag in All the World" (composed in Canton) which they recorded in the Monument in May

Progress continues

I took a bunch of photos today but haven't had time to upload any.

While Split Rock has been installing The Stark County Story, I have been figuring out the dollhouse exhibit and re-doing the lobby exhibit in PICK PROOF panel frames! (I did not anticipate how irresistible it is for some people to destroy a panel by picking at the corner. So very irritating.)

I ran out of velcro so I could only put up one of the replacement panels. Back to Pat Catan's in the morning!

The second truck arrived this afternoon with the rest of the exhibit. I promise to post lots of photos tomorrow. This quick update will have to do for now.

At the Preview Party "A White Glove Affair" on September 25 and the Grand Opening on September 26, I will be putting together a slide show of the entire process. I have taken so many pictures every step of the way!

Installation Day One and Day Two

We're in the thick of things now!

Here are some of the highlights from yesterday and this morning:

The Timken grinder arrived yesterday morning

It took a lot of men to move it because....

...it's kinda heavy!

Steve pulled on one end while everyone else pushed on the other side. Of course, in this shot, he looks like he's dragging 4000 pounds by himself!

Board member Bob Leibensperger helped unpack the crate

The truck arrives!!!!

Split Rock's flight was delayed so the moving company unloaded the truck without them to save time

It didn't look that full to me yesterday, but when we got here this morning and saw what had been unpacked last night we were amazed!!

Gary painting the railing for the Dueber-Hampden clock

Movers unloading the truck

Our first glimpse at a panel!

This is actually on its side

The corner of Gallery A is rounded off

THESE are the infamous newsboys!

I know I keep saying this, but WE ARE SO EXCITED!

Guests are being detoured through Discover World. All galleries are open except the two under construction.

More photos as the process unfolds!!

Nightwine blog

I thought you might like to see what Jim Gerren of Nightwine Productions thought about this year's movie camp.

Click here to read about it!

Beautiful Garden!!

Special thanks to volunteers Michele and Larry Catalano for their hard work in the garden!

It holds a special place in their hearts because their daughter was married in our garden several years ago.

Take a look at the results of their work!

Ready..........set.............GO!

We are READY.

As you can see from these photos, the galleries have been cleared out and all prep work is finished!

The second floor lobby looks so much different with the clock moved! The dollhouse will be part of the Keller Gallery exhibition Life in Miniature and then will be put in storage for awhile.

The view into the former Historical Hall.

Gallery B (formerly known as the Historical Hall)

Gallery A (formerly known as the Industrial Hall).

We are SOOOOOO very anxious for that truck to get here on Monday so we can start to see the final product!!

Special thanks to Steve and his crew for all their hard work to get everything prepped for installation. There were lots and lots of logistical details to deal with, while the rest of the building and other departments still had to be run. We are both feeling like we forgot to do something, because the list was so very long. But I think there's nothing left to do but wait for Monday.
