Dollhouse exhibit opens TOMORROW!

All of the dollhouses and miniatures are in place for the exhibit opening of Life in Miniature tomorrow night!  We are having a FREE opening reception from 6 to 8 PM on Friday October 12.

Downtown Canton Walking Tour

This morning Chris and I attended a wonderful walking tour of the architecture of downtown Canton given by M.J. Albacete, Director of the Canton Museum of Art.  The tour was sponsored by the Main Branch of the Stark County District Library.

What a wonderful tour!  Albacete is extremely knowledgable about both architectural styles and Canton history.  At one point, I turned to Chris and said, "There is no end to this man's knowledge!"

Great stories in the Repository this week!

Gary Brown has written two great stories in the Repository this week.

The first talks about McKinley's nickname "Coffee Bill" and his role as a member of the 23rd OVI in the Civil War.  Click here to read that article.

The second one is about our button project in the Street of Shops.  Click here for that one.

Repository photographer Michael Balish took some awesome photos of the Street for the article!  It is really dark up there, to expose the artifacts to less light and therefore less fading/damage, so it's tough to get good photos in the Street.  I've tried.  Lots of times.  Michael's photos are fantastic!

We're excited about the enhancements we've made to the Street of Shops, and even more excited that they are being so well-received by the public!

Taste of Our Town a success!

I was so tired last week after Taste of Our Town, I didn't blog about it!  It was all I could do to thank the volunteers and guests on Facebook and go to BED!

The event went off without a hitch!  It was a great time for everyone -- staff included.  The food was fantastic, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
